Welcome to Eurobot 2008, 21.-25. May 2008 in Heidelberg, Germany

An amazing event gathering fun, high technology, friendship, creativity, education and passion!

Created in 1998, Eurobot is a international amateur robotics contest open to teams of young people below the age of 30, organised either in student projects or in independent clubs.

Every year, several national qualifications take place before the final that is held in a different country each edition.

In 2008, it will be in 28 different countries, represented by 450 teams and 70 robots that will gather in Heidelberg (Germany) for the EUROBOT 2008 final, from 21st - 25th of May.

There is also the international EUROBOT Conference 2008 taking place in parallel, where industry and universities present state of the art robotic research. One part of the EUROBOT Conference 2008 is also the topic "Robotics for Education", especially in high schools.

I am very happy to take over the patronage for EUROBOT 2008 final.

Our economies can only hold their position in relation to rising nations from the Far East if our enterprises remain innovation leaders.

The most important capital, which can be used in this global technology competition, is the authority and the commitment of highly qualified employees.

The competition "EUROBOT" is an excellent action, in order to inspire young people towards technology and to motivate them for careers as Engineers and Scientists.

The research contract "Mission to Mars", with the message "Find proofs of life and bring them to Earth...for analysis" shows which challenges await us in the future.

I thank the organisers, SRH Hochschule Heidelberg, Planète Sciences, EUROBOT Association as well as the host city Heidelberg for its commitment and wish to the teams a good preparation and exciting matches.
